Who we are

Corpus Christi Rugby was established 1976 and is a member of the Texas Rugby Union. We are active members of the Corpus Christi community and have several community outreach programs with the youth. Such programs include the K.E.Y.S. (keep every youth in school) Walk, Adopt-a-Beach, S.O.S. (supply our students), canned food drives, and Toys for Tots.

The Corpus Christi Rugby Club currently sponsors a youth rugby team which travels across Texas playing other cities to enjoy this competitive sport. Rugby allows these kids to compete together so they can accomplish a common goal and work together as a team. This guidance from the Corpus Christi Rugby club allows these kids to better themselves and gain the confidence they need to become successful down the road.

As the popularity of Rugby is still growing in the United States, it is still no where near how popular it is in the rest of the world. At championship/national level, the Rugby World Cup is ranked 3rd in most viewed event, preceded by the Olympics and the FIFA Football World Cup.  Beginning in 2016 Rugby will begin its premier where its popularity will grow within the United States due to its similarities to football.

The Corpus Christi Rugby Club has always been a competitive, social rugby team who is willing to host any rugby side throughout the world. Each season has at least 12 match games occurring throughout the state of Texas. Our rugby club also hosts a tournament called 7's by the Sea every year at the end of July in which teams from all over the United States come to play.
